Vallalar Teachings – Satvicharam
Satvicharam comes from two words: Sat, meaning truth, and Vicharam, meaning inquiry. Together, it means “inquiry into the truth.” Vallalar (Ramalinga Swamigal) emphasized the importance of practicing Satvicharam, inquiring into the truth of our existence, contemplating deeply about God, and reflecting on the divine to understand God’s greatness.
Satvicharam invites us to explore the nature of the soul while honestly acknowledging our flaws and weaknesses. It encourages a deeper connection with the divine, prompting us to seek answers about life’s purpose and our place in the universe.
We can practice Satvicharam both individually and with like-minded people. The more we practice Satvicharam, the more divine insights we receive. By focusing on God’s qualities, such as oneness, love, and compassion, we align ourselves with these virtues, allowing them to transform our lives. Satvicharam is not merely an intellectual exercise; it is a spiritual path leading to clarity, inner peace, and awakening to our higher self.
